Currently experiencing a rebranding of my personal art style after going through a major art block, I wanted to dedicate my time to creating art that reflects my use of digital technologies and social media by following trends on TikTok. Fulfilling my obsession with Y2K fashion and niche art movements like ‘webcore,’ I wanted to capture the progression of African American culture in an exciting way. Aiming to use more bright pastel colours in my artwork, I wanted to capture the aesthetic of a colourful magazine found in the 90s/2000s with screen halftones seen in all of the pages. Alongside research about Y2K fashion, I also wanted to focus on important events and experiences felt by all in the Black diaspora.
