Art is regularly regarded in its tangible form ie, the piece that the artist creates, however I believe it is also the relationship between the art and its audience. People Watching People is a visual piece that looks to ask questions. As a spectator, when I experience art, specifically ones that make me uncomfortable, I ask myself; what is happening? why is this happening? why do I feel this way? I have found that people of my generation tend to redirect themselves when they feel uncomfortable. Avoiding eye contact and immediately averting attention [usually to their phones]. Among many themes this piece is about “being art” through confrontation and discomfort. The video that will watched is of a set of individuals watching the the first clip of me looking into a camera for 4 minutes straight. Not only for the individuals of the clip but the audience watching the video, I wanted to invoke the question, “Am I watching them? Or are they watching me”?
